One of the most popular holiday sets LEGO regularly puts out is their advent calendars. The concept is fairly simple. Create a box with twenty four cubbies and fill each one with a small thing to put together.
Most years LEGO will sample from some of their most popular lines. This includes things like City, Castle (now Kingdoms), Pirates, and so on. However, this is the first year LEGO has created a calendar from one of their licensed series. And no other license is as popular as Star Wars.
Day 1: Republic Cruiser
This is a small red ship. It is a consular-class cruiser. Its primary purpose is to transport Jedi and diplomats all over the galaxy. Its red color displays its neutrality and signifies it should not be fired upon. It is used by the Galactic Republic during the clone wars.
Day 2: Nute Gunray
Here is the Neimoidian Viceroy. He has dark red hips and legs. His torso is dark red with the viceroy’s customary designs painted on. His arms are orange with dark bluish gray hands. His head is light bluish gray with large eyes and odd mouth that are found on Neimoidians. His helmet is dark bluish gray and also reflects his viceroy status.
Day 3: Mechno-Chair
This is a mostly brown color. It is a mechanical chair used by wealthy Nemoidians. The most prominent person to use one is Viceroy Nute Gunray. They were noted to be uncomfortable owing more to their display of wealth than comfort.
Day 4: Spider Droid
The spider droid is made up of light and dark bluish gray pieces. This is a four legged droid. Most droids designed in this fashion were made for battle.
Day 5: Boba Fett’s Slave I
This is a red, green and gray ship. It started out as a modified attack craft. It’s most widely known as a ship owned and operated by one of two Fetts. There were only six prototypes known to exist in the galaxy. Jango Fett stole it from the prison planet Oovo IV. There were later versions of the ship made and used. This one happens to represent the one Boba Fett used during the time period of the original movies.
Day 6: Chewbacca
The beloved Wookie of the Star Wars movies has reddish brown hips and legs. His torso is also a plain reddish brown. The only special piece is the modified head. It is made to make the minifigure taller as well as hairy. This particular one has Chewy’s sash which typically separates him from other Wookies.
Day 7: Tool Depot
This is a small rack for basic tools. A barrel holds a hammer and wrench. There is also a clip that holds a crossbow. The crossbow most likely is made to represent Chewbacca’s bow caster.
Day 8: Zew Senesca
He is probably better known as one of the many X-wing fighter pilots. He has dark bluish gray hips with orange legs. His torso is orange and painted with the designs of a rebel fighter pilot’s flight suit. His arms are orange with black hands. His face is light flesh with black eyebrows and an orange visor. He finishes the look off with the standard white rebel fighter pilot helmet.
Day 9: X-wing Fighter
The X-wing fighter is white with red and blue accents. This ship was originally designed for the Galactic Empire. When the design team defected to the Rebel Alliance, the Galactic Empire never got a chance to use them.
Day 10: Imperial Shuttle
This ship is mostly white with the occasional window. This was a standard transport used in the Empire. It was used to transport anyone from diplomats to troops. Its most famous role occurred in the Return of the Jedi where some of the heroes landed on Endor.
Day 11: Battle Droid
Here is the back bone of the trade federation. It has tan mechanical legs which attach to the standard blue droid body. One mechanical arm is bent at a slight angle while the other is straight. Both arms are in tan. He has the very familiar tan battle droid head and he wields a blaster.
Day 12: Rebel Snowspeeder
The land craft is mostly white and light gray. The original design for this speeder was to transport cargo. The Rebel technicians modified the design to be a patrol and attack craft. It gets its name from its extensive use at the battle on Hoth.
Day 13: R2-Q5
This is one of many astromech droids that populate the Star Wars universe. It has two black mechanical legs that attach with a pin. Its body is black and rounded like a barrel with silver and copper designs on it. Its head is a black dome with more silver and copper designs.
Day 14: Mouse Droid
The mouse droid is one of those small droids that scurry around the character’s feet during a variety of scenes in the movie. This one is in black and light bluish gray. The wheels are black and made from round plates. The black mini slopes on the ends give the droid a rhombus shape.
Day 15: Republic Gunship
The ship’s color is primarily white with red and green accents. This was a Low Altitude Assault Transport (LAAT). Its main function was to land around 30 clone troopers and support them. It was used by the Grand Republic during the clone wars.
Day 16: Clone Pilot
At a glance, you may think this looks a bit like a storm trooper. That’s because the clone trooper was what came before the storm trooper. This one has black hips and white legs. His torso is white with that armored pilot pattern of the clone trooper. His arms are white and he has black hands. His head is solid black. His helmet is white and in the clone pilot’s design. It looks like it was based off of a Mandalorian design.
Day 17: Weapon Depot
This is a white and gray stand that holds two blasters. It also holds a light saber and some of the high tech binoculars. Since most people do not use a light saber, this rack is more suitable for a Jedi or Sith warrior.
Day 18: Anakin’s Y-wing Starfighter
This ship is mainly white and yellow. This ship was primarily designed as a bomber. Its missions usually involved fighting its way to a large target like a capitol ship and blowing it up. It was in use by the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Alliance.
Day 19: TIE Defender Pilot
One of the most popular fighter pilots in the empire are the TIE Fighter pilots. This one comes with black hips and legs. His torso is black with a TIE fighter pilot’s pattern painted on. His head is solid black. He wears a black storm trooper’s helmet.
Day 20: TIE Fighter
This is a black and gray ship. This was the standard attack ship for the Empire. These ships had no long range capability, but were highly maneuverable. Their tactics primarily involved overwhelming enemies with numbers. Used during the Galactic Civil War.
Day 21: Millennium Falcon
This is a gray ship. The ship’s design was intended to be a light freighter. It was noted for being fast and a bit unreliable. Over the years, it has had extensive modifications including smuggling purposes. Its most famous owners were Han Solo and Chewbacca.
Day 22: A-wing Fighter
This is a white and red ship. This was a mass-produced fighter made to intercept targets. It was the Rebel Alliance’s answer to the maneuverable TIE Interceptor. It had little in the way of defenses, relying mostly on its speed and maneuvering capabilities.
Day 23: Christmas Tree
This is a rather small Christmas tree. It is a green tree with a trans-neon green star at the top. It has blue, orange, and red lights.
Day 24: Santa Yoda
The final day has the minifigure to collect. It’s Yoda in a Santa suit. He has short red legs. His torso is red and decorated with a Santa jacket and sand green hands. Yoda’s head is the normal sand green with gray hair and large eyes and straight pointed ears. He also holds a reddish brown pole for a walking stick and has a tan open sack. You can put a blue and yellow one-by-two tile into the sack as presents.
Recommendations
Put simply, this is something you’ll want to pick up as soon as possible. Many of the advent calendars will double or triple in price after they’re sold out in stores. This particular set is not only a LEGO Calendar, but a Star Wars fan’s dream. These sets don’t really go past the year they come out in so there’s only a limited time left.
